First Blog Post... Ever!

I have not googled how to write a blog. Nor have I explored what I need to do to get this 'out there'! I am going to keep my blogs to a simple format. I will focus on one topic that I am finding difficulty understanding, choosing to learn further, or have failed in and seek to find ways of improving. The second topic will cover something I am choosing to celebrate. My hope is that it will become cyclical process that will (at various stages) allow me to celebrate success in something that I have previously been grappling with. With my introduction out the way, here goes nothing.

Learning - Social Media as a source of PD
I am sure I am not alone in owning more than one twitter account. After setting up a profile many years ago and choosing to follow lead singers from my favourite bands, players from notable sports teams, Stephen Fry (everyone has to follow Stephen Fry is what I was told) and Kim Kardashian I quickly became over stimulated and let my handle and hashtags fall by the wayside. A couple of weeks ago I decided to saddle up on the twitter horse once again. This time, with a brand new account, I decided I would use this social media platform for professional development purposes only. At the @andyvasily workshop this weekend, I was blown away by the depth that twitter can allow your professional development go. I am still very new on this journey but incredibly excited by the power of its possibility. +Adam Llevo has set me up on a 14 Day Twitter Challenge, which I plan on doing so hope to report back on it's value soon.

Celebrating - The Power of Sharing
Taking a step back from day-to-day lives can really help us become better professionals. Especially when that step back you take is into a workshop with 30 enthusiastic PE teachers! I can honestly say that I learned something from everyone this weekend. The focus may not have been in my specific field but I have so much to take away and can't wait to put in to practice. I am already designing a season long course for out athletes focussed around growth mindset, visualisation, yoga, mindfulness and student leadership. The energy was infectious and special thanks to the two Andy's, Neila and everyone on the course for making it a truly enriching and positive experience
